Buddy Writing

Today we did some buddy writing with room7. We helped them to re-craft their writing samples. This is me and my buddy Lavinia. I hope to do this again, It was Fun!

Tsunami Disaster

I could see people crying because there is a tsunami breaking buildings. I could see people screaming, hugging and helping each other. People on top of buildings. Houses floating away with this force of nature.

I could hear people screaming for help. Water smashing over buildings, people crying for their loved ones and power lines electrifying the water. I could hear children crying for their mums or dads because they might be at work or even out shopping for food of clothes. Electric lines were snapping like a crocodile. Houses getting crushed into rubble by the tsunami and people speaking to each other saying “Are you OK?” “Help me! I'm stuck on a building!”

I could smell and feel salty water. I could see people feeling frightened and the fear of the screams from people. I could smell smoke and feel the force of the wind and damp water. People are terrified and lost, some hearts were broken and frozen. People were scared and worried, but there are hopes to rebuild again.

Layers of the earth

WALT:make a model of the layers of the earth out of play-dough.

So...that when we learn about natural disasters we can use our knowledge of the layers to understand them better.

To...help us in topic and science and learn about the earth around us.

THE CRUST:has a thickness of 15-75km.The crust also holds our countries and seas together.

MANTLE:there are two layers within the mantle. There is a upper and lower mantle. The upper mantle 400km thick and the lower and the lower mantle is 2300km thick.

OUTER CORE:The outer core is 2300km thick. The outer core has liquid. There is nickle, minerals and sulphur.

City decription

As I walked out of the plane and through the city New York I saw saw, heard, and smelt.....

As I walked through a big city,I saw towering buildings. There were traffic jams and I saw crowed of people that seemed to be doing nothing but walking around the street.

When I walked down the street, I heard little babies crying and horns from cars beeping because there were too many people on the road. As I walked through Mac Donald’s, I could hear the booming sound of Jessie J (Price Tag) and when I walked out from MacDonald’s, I heard people yelling out from their cars.

I could smell MacDonald’s butter chicken and Burger King. It smelt delicious.

I hope I go back in time again, to that amazing city.

why the sun moves slowly

In the beginning when the earth was set down, the sky was lifted up,some things were not quite finished but there lived a hot blazing sun.

Every day the sun zoomed through the sky and that meant that the days were too short and plants weren't growing well.Te Marama, the moon was so tired from appearing early at night and he was angry because he need some rest.

Ethiopia was sick and tired of the sun moving so fast across the sky. So she asked her friend Te Marama the moon for her help to slow down the sun. She said “Yes I’ll help you.”
So that night, while the sun (Tero) was fast asleep, Ethiopia ran to sea where Tangaroa was. She asked him “Will you help me and Te Marama the moon please?”
“Yes I’ll help you.” Replied Tangaroa in a deep voice.

So when the sun come out from his hole. Te Marama was behind this big white cloud were Tero couldn't see him. Te Marama jumped out from were she was hiding and Ethiopia was hiding and Te Marama had a rope. They both tied a rope around the sun (Tero) and Ethiopia said “If you don't slow down when you travel through the sky, I will cover your hole and you will not come out again!”

They had a deal. So from then on, Tero the sun travelled through the sky slowly, plants grew well, days were long and kids had time to play outside.

That is why the sun moves slowly.

My Maori village discription

When I opened my eyes the light shined from me like I was a star. In the past this is what I saw, heard and smelt...

As I walked through a small village I saw dirty floors that were damp. I saw a Tohunga visiting families’ houses. Fresh plants grew all around. I could see a Marae with twirling poi inside. I could see the men making a hangi for their family which was what they usually do for their family.

As I walked past a little house made out of wood, I heard tamariki playing hand games, string games, knuckle bones and laughter. I could hear children praying, haka chants, trees swaying, piupiu swing and Maori language (no English spoken). I could not understand their Maori language every were I went.

I smelt warm fiery smoke that came from the hangi I could smell fresh air coming towards me and blew my hair away. As I walked towards the Maori people I could smell the Hangi food they ate. It smelt delicious.
