Today was New Zealand's national shake out day. At 9:26am there was an earthquake drill. I was at my desk, so I dropped, covered and held to stay safe. One thing we did well at T.P.S. was that we all gathered together. One thing I want to work on next time is to forget about my netbook because it can be replaced and I cant. our meeting place is in the hall. Remember, in the event of an earthquake you must remember to DROP,COVER AND HOLD.
I am a Year 7 student at Tamaki Primary School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 5 and my teacher is Mr Minton.

Arbour Day.
Why we should celebrate Arbor Day?
Arbor Day is a national holiday created to recognize the importance of trees. Arbor day is a good idea to celebrate because some of the trees were felled to build canoe (waka) and our houses (whare). More than 80 percent of the land was covered in trees. We as tamaki primary school think its a good idea to celebrate Arbor day
We celebrate arbor day because it shows our wonderful timber around the world.
Arbor day was created in the United states when they had sold their timber overseas and then that became a business so then we thought that we would have an anue timber day but call it arbor day.
Bad Points
We as Tamaki Primary School think its bad to cut down our trees. We should think better before cutting down our trees and think about what will happen with our trees in the future.Huge numbers were felled and sent to Australia, Britain and California. Between 1990 and 1920 almost a quarter of our native tree (Timber) was sold overseas. In the Native forest in 1000 A.D. there was plenty of trees back in the past and in forest 1840 there was heaps of trees but not much like 1000s Native forest and then in Forest in 2005 our country didn’t have much trees left
Arbour day.
Arbour day first began in the United States in 1872. It was first celebrated in New Zealand in 1890. Today, Arbour Day is a time when people plant trees and all other kinds of things that can be planted and about the importance to our environment.
